Mariinsky Ballet
ex Kirov

1970-2009 |   European and Dutch Tours |  notable: Millennium Performances in RAI Amsterdam

Henk van der Meijden, founder of Stardust, brought the Kirov Ballet to Amsterdam on September 5, 1970. Michael Baryshnikov, then only 19 years old, amazed the crowd with his performance. To this day Baryshnikov is compared to ballet greats like Vaslav Nijinsky, Rudolf Nureyev and Vladimir Vasiliev, all of them in contention for the title of best ballet dancer ever.

Stardust celebrated the new millennium in 1999 and 2000 with a festive residency, once again in RAI Amsterdam. The press and the public were blown away by the aristocratic elegance of the Kirov Ballet.

The ballet company returned to Europe in 2001 and 2009 for residencies in Carré Amsterdam.
